How Often Should I Reapply SPF?Updated 2 months ago

Sunscreen should be applied generously and evenly to all exposed skin 15–20 minutes prior to UV exposure to allow adequate film formation. To maintain effective protection, sunscreen must be reapplied at least every two hours, and immediately after swimming, excessive sweating, exercise, or towel drying, as these activities reduce product coverage. Because sunscreen effectiveness decreases over time, additional sun protection measures are recommended, including the use of protective clothing, broad-brimmed hats, and UV filtering sunglasses, as well as seeking shade where possible. Limiting cumulative UV exposure is an important factor in reducing the risk of UV-induced skin damage, including skin cancer and melanoma.
